Here are Todays Amazing Rug Must Deals!
How would I set up and solve this problem?
Ida Heinze sells r handmade rugs r< or equal to 100, at a price of (25-0.5r) dollars per rug. How many rugs must be sold to have a revenue of $1413.5?
I had the equation set up as 1413.5=r(25-0.05r). Is that right? What would I do from there?
The equation should be 1413.5 = r(25-0.05r) [this would be a price of (25-0.05r) dollars per rug!]
written another way, 0.05r^2 - 25r + 1413.5 = 0 => r^2 - 500r + 28270 = 0.
This is a quadratic equation in r with 2 solutions; only one of those lies between 0 and 100
namely 64.9865. There is no exact solution but 65 rugs comes very close.
