If green tea isn't safe during pregnancy then why doesn't China and Japan have major problems?
I just don't understand. I'm sure the millions of women in oriental countries do not stop drinking green tea when they are pregnant and b-feeding. So why isn't there a huge oriental epidemic of spina bifida and anemia (which is what the western culture says could happen if you drink green tea while pg)?
It's really an issue of moderation in all things. However, one of the posters is exactly right.... there's no warning on supplemental Green Tea (even the high-potency extracts) saying not to take it while pregnant. Small amounts of it are perfectly fine, but taking too much may possibly cause problems with pregnancy if it boosts the immune system too much.
