Is it possible to do a Delhi-Agra-Jaipur-Jaisalmer trip in 6 days? Help!?
Hi guys! Me and my friend are going to India for the first time, but unfortunately we are only staying a short time (we arrive Tuesday night and leave at Sunday night). During this time, I am really hoping to go to Jaisalmer, and also see Agra and Jaipur. Is this possible? What should our route be? Can I fit in more destinations? We were planning to go straight to Jaisalmer since it's the farthest and just work our way back to Delhi.
Any suggestions are welcome. We are willing to sleep every night on the train just so we can reach as many places as we can. Also, I'm confused about getting to Jaisalmer from Delhi. Some sites say there is a direct train while some say you need to take two trains to get to Jaisalmer. I really want to stay in Jaisalmer for a night or two, and maybe just take day trips to Agra and Jaipur.
Thank you so much!
Hi,
It would be possible to do this depending on the trains etc but I really wouldn't recommend it as you won't get to see much of anything as you would be on the road for most of the trip and this will be tiring. Personally, I think it is much better to visit Jaipur, Agra and Delhi and actually get to enjoy them.
I would recommend spending a night in Delhi on arrival then heading to Jaipur for two days then Agra for two days then to Delhi for your last night. Agra and Jaipur are about 4-6 hours drive from Delhi when you take traffic into consideration so they are not really possible as day trips.
If you are keen to do this then I would recommend flying into Delhi and heading straight to Agra -either by train or by car. Then spend the night there and see the Taj Mahal at sunrise before heading back to Delhi for a night. Then the next day I would fly to Jodphur and spend the night there before heading to Jaisalmer by car the next day. Then you can get the overnight sleeper train to Jaipur which arrives at around 5am. Then you have the whole day there and can then head back to Delhi.
I would suggest private car wherever possible, asides from the Jodphur to Delhi flight and the Jaisalmer to Jaipur train as this means it is less likely that you will suffer delays. Obviously, this itinerary is already rushed and not recommended as it doesn't leave much room for error.
I hope that you have a great time whichever route you end up going for.
